Operation Smile, Vietnam

July was a busy time for William Moffitt Associates and client Russ Reid Company.  They went to Vung Tao, Vietnam to shoot the first ever television special for Operation Smile, the international organization who has performed thousands of operations on children and adults with cleft lips and cleft palates, changing lives one smile at a time.

The Operation Smile team consisted of volunteer medical professional from several countries   providing treatment and aftercare to the children of Vietnam, from July 16 - 27.  The volunteer team provided reconstructive surgery at Loi Hospital to children with facial deformities.

Approximately 40 volunteer team members and 6 filmmakers were involved in the effort.  Plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, pediatricians, dentists and speech therapists, cared for children who suffer from cleft lips, cleft palates and other malformations.

In the 14-year partnership with Vietnam, Operation Smile mission volunteers have surgically treated 3,019 children, while 4,011 more patients receive surgery during medical missions conducted independently by Operation Smile Vietnam.
