Mission Statement
The Community Prevention Council is an organization in La Cañada Flintridge, California, dedicated to promoting healthy policies and practices regarding alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use in the La Cañada Flintridge community and promoting and supporting youth and their families.
CPC Background
After a teen tragedy several years ago the La Cañada Flintridge community came together to establish the Community Prevention Council. It is a network of committed adults with concerns for the protection of children and their families. Youth group leaders, churches, schools, mental health professionals, the Sheriff and other concerned citizens meet monthly to share knowlege and work on plans for solutions that work.
According to CPC Chairman Will Moffitt, "Drugs and alcohol are not a school problem. They are not even a student problem, but a community problem that we need to face. Our students mirror what they see at home, in homes around them and on the silver screen. Any student, any family that is hurt by drug or alcohol abuse is one too many."
